Race Equality Celebration Tomorrow

I just returned from doing a short spot on Palmetto Mornings (WRHI radio) about the Race Equality Week Celebration. Originally established by the National League of Cities, admission is free to this annual event.
Sponsored by the City of Rock Hill’s, “No Room for Racism Committee (NRFR),” this celebration is an educational, family oriented get together featuring foods, information and entertainment. Each year the NRFR Committee chooses a region of the world to feature and this year it will be Asia.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Rotunda of City Hall with foods from Thailand, Japan, Viet Nam, China and the U.S.A. The program follows in City Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m. with presentations featuring persons from Viet Nam, Japan and China. We’ll have entertainment by the Hidden Dragon Lion Dance Group (an Asian cultural group) from Charlotte.
The No Room for Racism Committee is a 9 member Board appointed by City Council. Our charge is to foster relationships among persons of diverse social, cultural and racial backgrounds and to celebrate our common interests in order to create a community where citizens work to overcome racism. We strive to foster relationships among persons of diverse social, cultural and racial backgrounds.
Note: the public is welcome to attend meetings of NRFR: first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Police Department Training Room at the Law Center, located at 120 East Black Street.
