Fish may really be “brain food”

Research published in the journal, Neurology have found that a diet lacking in omega-3 fatty acids may cause your brain to age faster and lose some of its memory and cognitive capabilities. Regular fatty fish consumption (salmon, sardines, mackerel) or supplementing with a molecularly distilled form of fish oil is shown to improve memory and thought retention. This may significantly lower the risk of cognitive decline associated with the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Eating fish several times each week or supplementing with good quality fish oil improves brain development and cognition as we age. Vegetarians: no, you don’t have to eat fish. There are a variety of plant based omega-3 sources including flaxseed, hempseed and canola oils, and nuts like walnuts.
