A thousand points of light

A famous oft repeated line from the campaign speeches of former President, George H.W. Bush was, “A thousand points of light.” Although the Bush administration fell short of the ideal, the idea was a great one. It spoke to American values and in particular those timeless ones that involve people reaching out to people.

In chiropractic practice we receive many rewards that go well beyond the fees paid. Whether it’s the smiles on the faces of kids who just received their adjustment; or the individual who enthusiastically thanks us for “getting their life back,” these little moments of thanks shine brightly in the heart of every chiropractor I have spoken with on the subject.
Today one of those points of light warmed my heart because it was a genuine gift of appreciation whose intrinsic value was far less important than what it symbolized. When this fine woman arrived bearing this unsolicited gift today, it was more about the thought and less about the tomatoes. To top it off she added a beautiful rose, a symbol of her own inner beauty and light. To say I appreciate it hardly says much, but I certainly do.
