{"id":238,"date":"2011-03-21T09:23:18","date_gmt":"2011-03-21T13:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.youneedchiro.com\/blog\/?p=238"},"modified":"2011-03-24T16:27:21","modified_gmt":"2011-03-24T20:27:21","slug":"obesity-self-esteem-and-bullying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.youneedchiro.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/21\/obesity-self-esteem-and-bullying\/","title":{"rendered":"Obesity, Self-esteem, and Bullying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bullying has made news again this week as millions of us saw a video of underdog Australian schoolboy, Casey Heynes, turning the tables on a bully.\u00a0 The network news first warned us that the video was disturbing and it certainly was. \u00a0Some watched gleefully to see justice served, while others viewed in abject horror as the boy body-slammed his bully to the concrete.\u00a0 The bully clearly \u2018buttered his own bread,\u2019 but at the same time we know that the boy, driven beyond the breaking point by years of bullying came right to the brink of tragedy by his own severe response.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Along with Barry Rubinstien, Vice Chair of the No Room for Racism Committee, I will be appearing on the radio talk show, \u201cStraight Talk\u201d on WRHI FM 94.3 and AM 1340 this Friday at\u00a012:30 p.m.\u00a0to discuss the work of the committee and the upcoming Youth Forum.\u00a0 Please tune in and let us know what you think.\u00a0 The office will be close from 11:30 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday to allow time for this event.<\/p>\n<p>There have been many recent examples of the fact that bullying has become a major social problem globally, including teenage suicides in the U.S.\u00a0 \u00a0For several months now the City of Rock Hill&#8217;s, No Room for Racism Committee has been planning a program to help shed light on this \u201celephant in the room,\u201d as the Committee\u2019s Annual Youth Forum will focus on \u201c<em>Obesity, Self-esteem, and Bullying<\/em>\u201d this Thursday, March 31<sup>st<\/sup> at 5:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youneedchiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/City-of-Rock-Hill.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-233\" title=\"City of Rock Hill\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youneedchiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/City-of-Rock-Hill-300x44.jpg\" alt=\"City of Rock Hill\" width=\"300\" height=\"44\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.youneedchiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/City-of-Rock-Hill-300x44.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.youneedchiro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/City-of-Rock-Hill.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>There will be lots of\u00a0food, fun and information.\u00a0 Admission is free and families with school age children are encouraged to attend.\u00a0 Information about these\u00a0important\u00a0subjects will be available for the kids and their families.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please arrive by 5:30 at the rotunda\u00a0of the Rock Hill City Hall and plan to have lots of fun.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sponsors of the event include the Human Relations Committee;
